From Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War comes the massive YMT-05 Hildolfr, recreated in Bandai’s EX Model series as an impressive 1/144 scale model kit. Combining the characteristics of a mobile weapon and an enormous main battle tank, the Hildolfr delivers a completely different building and display experience from a conventional mobile suit.

The model can be converted between Mobile Mode and Tank Mode through the use of interchangeable components. Each configuration emphasizes a different side of the Hildolfr’s unusual design, allowing builders to display it either as a low-profile armored fighting vehicle or with its upper mobile section raised for combat.

At approximately 25 cm in length for the tank section alone, the Hildolfr has an imposing presence even at 1/144 scale. Dense mechanical molding covers the hull, turret, tracks, armor, weapons, and equipment, making the kit particularly suitable for panel lining, detail painting, weathering, and military-style finishing.

The enormous main cannon dominates the vehicle’s silhouette and can be adjusted vertically for different firing positions. The cannon’s spent-shell ejection mechanism is also reproduced with detailed mechanical sculpting, adding additional realism to one of the Hildolfr’s most recognizable features.

The caterpillar tracks are produced using a soft synthetic-rubber material and are designed for straightforward assembly. Fine texturing is molded into the ground-contact surfaces, helping create a more convincing heavy-vehicle appearance when the model is displayed on terrain or incorporated into a battlefield diorama.

Two shovel arms are mounted on the main body and feature flexible articulation. These can be positioned independently to recreate different combat and movement configurations, including scenes inspired by the Hildolfr’s confrontation with mobile suits in MS IGLOO.

The Mobile Mode arms offer additional articulation, including movable elbows, while the upper body can rotate at the waist. Together with the adjustable main cannon and shovel arms, these features allow the otherwise enormous vehicle to achieve a surprising variety of combat-ready displays.

The mono-eye is reproduced using a clear component, adding depth to the central sensor area and providing an excellent opportunity for additional painting or lighting customization for experienced builders.

A 105mm Machine Gun is also included for the Mobile Mode configuration, expanding the Hildolfr’s weapon options beyond its enormous main cannon. Dedicated hand parts and alternate components are provided to support the different configurations.

Five 1/144 scale figures are included to reinforce the tremendous scale of the vehicle: one pilot figure representing Demeziere Sonnen and four ground crew figures. Placing the personnel beside the Hildolfr dramatically emphasizes just how massive the machine is and makes the kit particularly effective as the centerpiece of an MS IGLOO diorama.

With its huge proportions, Mobile and Tank Mode configurations, detailed caterpillar tracks, articulated shovel arms, massive cannon, clear mono-eye, and included crew figures, the EX Model Hildolfr is a distinctive centerpiece for Universal Century collectors and an especially appealing project for builders who enjoy military vehicles, weathering, and battlefield displays.
